Seeing the needs of isolated AIDS patients with a compelling need to be touched by the hands and hearts of others, Shawnee Isaac Smith founded The Heart Touch Project in 1994. Since then, she has helped the organization evolve into one that provides therapeutic and empathetic touch to medically fragile and terminally ill patients from infants to the elderly. With a background in public administration and hospital administration, Shawnee has served as a consultant and administrator in a number of health care settings.
