Thailand
The Heart Touch Project inaugurated its International Outreach Program in November 2006 with a two-week trip to Thailand to serve children living in AIDS orphanages. Estimates at the time put the number of infected children in the country at approximately 300,000. In the past few years, the Thai government and many non-government organizations (NGOs) have taken more aggressive steps to curb the spread of the virus. The number of facilities to care for those orphaned because of AIDS has also grown.
At the present time, Heart Touch does not have plans to organize an International Outreach Program trip to Thailand, but because of our past relationship to the country and its people this is an option we are always ready to explore.
We invite those interested in volunteering to work with HIV/AIDS infected children to consider traveling with Heart Touch to Cambodia.
