The Heart Touch Offsite Training
in Compassionate Touch
Course Description
Two Heart Touch facilitators will travel to an offsite location to teach the foundational course Heart Touch Training in Compassionate Touch. This 2-1/2 day training is designed to prepare certified massage therapists, body workers, and other medically licensed healthcare professionals to provide compassionate caring touch to individuals at the end of life. Using demonstrations, experiential exercises, lectures and group sharing, participants learn a mindful, compassionate approach to caring touch in working with individuals in hospital settings.

- Twenty continuing education hours from the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). Continuing education credit is also available from the California Board of Registered Nursing. Members of the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) may also earn continuing education hours.
Course Requirements
No prior massage or medical experience is needed to attend the course, however hospices may require certification from an accredited massage school or a medical license or credential (doctor, nurse, occupational or physical therapist) in order to provide massage to their patients.
Schedule
- 5:30 on Friday—registration opens
- 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm on Friday
- 9:00 am to 7:00 pm on Saturday
- 9:00 am to 7:00 pm on Sunday
Location
The training is held at a sponsoring location.
Hosting Requirements
The host facility must provide chairs and tables; easel, pads and markers; massage lotion, hand sanitizers; a sound system, and other incidental instructional supplies as required. Participants will be asked to bring massage tables, linens and pillows. The minimum enrollment is twenty participants.
Fee
The fee for the training is $3,000, exclusive of travel and related costs for the facilitators.
