Heart Touch Training for Hospice
Staff and Caregivers
Course Description
Using a combination of exercises, demonstrations and lectures, participants in this one-day training will experience the importance and power of touch as a means to communicate care and compassion to those at the end of life. They will also learn a series of strokes adapted for individuals in hospice care and review the importance of safe practices in dealing with this population.
The course is taught by Heart Touch facilitators who supply all instructional materials and massage supplies.

- Eight continuing education hours awarded by the California Board of Registered Nursing. Members of the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) may also earn eight continuing education hours.
Course Prerequisite
Current hospice employee or volunteer
Hosting Requirement
The training is held at the host hospice facility which provides a room with tables, chairs and a white board. Massage tables or tabletop mats are ideal. A minimum of twenty participants is required.
Fee
The fee for the training is $1,500, but may increase based on facilitator travel and associated costs.
