Massage Therapy Continuing Education Classes
 

Since 1995, The Heart Touch™ Project has been dedicated to providing the therapeutic, curative and palliative benefits of professional bodywork to vulnerable populations through the art of compassionate touch massage therapy.

We pride ourselves on providing the highest quality of massage therapy continuing education classes, training workshops and educational programs to bodywork and massage practitioners, nurses and healthcare professionals.

Our training workshops and educational programs are conducted in a nurturing environment by qualified healthcare providers and professional group facilitators.

The Heart Touch Project is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education Approved Provider. We are also approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing as a continuing education provider. Continuing education hours are awarded for each of our trainings.

 

 
Heart Touch™ Training

A transformative three-day training designed to prepare participants with the knowledge and strategies they need to serve a severely ill client with compassionate touch therapy. Participants earn twenty continuing education hours.

Instructors: Shawnee Isaac Smith, Founder, The Heart Touch™ Project and facilitator Camille Harris.

Massage for Medically Fragile Infants and Children

A two-day course required for those who wish to become a Heart Touch volunteer in one of our three partner hospitals or children’s hospice. The training explores the physical, psychological, social and emotional issues facing seriously or terminally ill children. Topics include massaging children with special needs, age appropriate communication, boundaries and preparation for working in a hospital environment. Participants earn sixteen continuing education hours.

Infant Massage Instruction

This training prepares Heart Touch volunteers who wish to work in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in one of our partner hospitals how to teach infant massage to NICU parents*.

The training consists of one full day followed by a half-day practicum. During the first day students learn the benefits of massage for infants, a step-by-step protocol for infant massage, contraindications for massaging medically fragile infants, and ways to read a baby’s cues. During the half-day session, students will teach infant massage to new parents and their babies. Participants earn twelve continuing education hours.

Training fee is $75.00.

*All Heart Touch volunteers who wish to work with children are required to take Massage for Medically Fragile Infants and Children.
